Troop Overview

2017JamboLogo-4Live Scouting’s Adventure!

The 2017 National Jamboree offers Scouts an opportunity to experience a ton of adventure. Whitewater, climbing, zip lines, ropes course, mountain biking, and much, much more. (Not to mention all of the things from previous Jamborees, like patch trading, SCUBA, arena shows, Technology Quest … who could ask for more?). And all in one amazing location in the mountains of West Virginia at Boy Scouts of America’s newest high adventure base, The Summit Bechtel Family Scout Reservation.

It’s Going to be Big, It’s Going to be Wild

The official Jamboree dates are July 19 – July 28, 2017.  The Great Rivers Council TROOP will be leaving on or about Monday, July 17, 2017 and returning on Friday, July 28, 2017.

 Adult Leaders

The Council’s TROOP will be led by Scoutmaster David Crane and Assistant Scoutmaster Tom Ciolino. Get to know a little about them by clicking here. Great Rivers will be sending a “half Troop” and consequently sending two adult leaders rather than four.

The Troop’s Adventure

Current plans are to leave on or about Monday, July 17, 2017, travel to Dayton, Ohio; tour the National Air Force Museum on Tuesday before driving to Athens, Ohio; then arrive at the National Jamboree on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.  The return travel will be on Friday, July 28, 2017.  Travel will be by bus coach.  Exact times will be determined as travel arrangements are confirmed.

Cost

The Great Rivers Council fee for Scout participants will be $1,900.00. The fee includes the National Jamboree fee, transportation, meals, lodging en route to and from the Jamboree, special shoulder and Unit numeral patches, t-shirts, a Jamboree duffle bag, and a daypack.  This also includes pre-jamboree training events.  All Troop equipment is being provided by the National Jamboree.
