Who’s Going to the Jamboree? Welcome from the Troop Scoutmaster!

Hello, Scouts and parents!  I am very excited about Jambo 2013 and the opportunity to serve as Scoutmaster for the Great Rivers Council contingent.

The Jamboree Experience

I know the Jamboree will be an experience you will always remember.  I attended the Jamboree as a Scout in 1981 at Fort A.P. Hill and still have great memories from that event.  I have been looking forward to this Jamboree ever since I realized both of my boys would be eligible to attend in 2013.  I am thrilled to have the chance to share that experience with them and I would love to have you join us as well.

My Family

My older son is currently a Life Scout and working on his Eagle project.  He is going into the 9th grade at Jefferson Junior High in Columbia.  My younger son will be in 6th grade and just crossed over earlier this year from Cub Scout Pack 989 after earning his Arrow of Light.  I served Pack 989 as Cubmaster for five years and have been serving as an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 706 for the past three years. Debbie, my wife, and I have been married for 22 years.  In addition to our boys, we have a daughter who will be a senior at Rock Bridge High School.

A Blessing to Serve

As an Eagle Scout myself, the chance to be involved in Scouting as an adult leader has been a real blessing for me and an opportunity to give back to an organization that has played a significant role in my life. As Cubmaster and ASM, it has been a joy and a privilege to see dozens of boys grow from Tiger Cubs to Boy Scouts. It has been a special blessing to share in those experiences with my sons. This year, I am really looking forward to returning to Philmont with my older son.

More About Me

I am an Associate Professor of economics in the Division of Applied Social Sciences at Mizzou.  Besides work and Scouting, I am actively involved in my local church, Community United Methodist, and supporting our kids’ athletic and school activities.
